Goals

Looking through my favorite blogs (check my blogroll!), many have monthly goals and it is fun to read the weekly/monthly update when goals are reflected back on.
I can do this.
(This is a much easier "copy" than Sarah's pantry/fridge expose.  My dredges are far too embarrassing, cluttered, and disorganized to share. I know it bugs the hell out of L too, but thankfully he is understanding and not too anal.)

So here are some goals for February.  Which is my birthday month. Which, after I turned 29, I have decided that I hate my birthday.  This one is one step closer to 35, which is horrifying.  I hate getting old. It sucks.  But that's another post.

I agree with research and the majority that goals need to be measurable, attainable, realistic, and since my life is pretty much crap right now, I am going to have a few more goals than I think most people should.  But, I have the time. Thanks unemployed status.

Sunshine's February Goals:

Personal
-Call home 1x week.  If you know me, you know that I HATE THE PHONE. HATE IT. Especially when I HAVE NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT.  Hey S, what's up?  Nothing. I'm unemployed.  I sit on facebook, blog, eat, sleep, and now I workout and play football. I suck at football, and I probably won't ever see any game time, but I am trying.
And that sums up my life.  Seriously.  So, I see no point in calling and repeating the same dull updates. But, I will.
-Watch at least 1 movie with L.  He likes movies. And he is a night-person. I am not. I need to make more of an effort.
-Try lentils. I'd like to cook with them and make something.  I heard they are good for eating.

Mental
-Read 3 books. 1 Book club book, 1 YA book, and 1 Books I should have read in school but Didn't book.

Physical
-Do one of my yoga tapes at least 1X a week.  I'd like to improve my mental and emotional health.  Yoga helps. I love it.
-Go to Body Pump at least 1X a week. I love this class. It is hard. And crowded.  And makes me sweaty. But I love it.

Social
-Hang out at least two times with someone outside of L.  I have to say 2 because I have an automatic 1 with my bookclub. I won't lie, L and I are homebodies--I am ok with that, but my friends here (and back in WI) are worth more time.  I need to be a better friend--this includes making efforts to hang out with my friends.)  Family excursions don't count.

Ok. I could add more, but I am pretty overwhelmed by this right now.  I have 3 days to do yoga and call home and I need to haul ass with my reading progression.  I guess that is what goals are for--lighting a fire under one's behind.
Consider it lit.

  1. What a great idea! I think the act of putting the goals in writing makes them so much more real and these are all achievable goals. Good for you for giving yourself some guidance.

  2. That is a good idea. I keep a to-do list of stuff that must get done each day, but adding a to-do list of goals would be even better.

I love yoga. I didn't think I would until I was dancing in college and fell in love with the yoga we did for a warm-up.
