Proud of myself...

Can you tell?
Me after WillPower and Grace (60 minutes) and Yoga (60 minutes)!

I was unbelievably close to NOT going to the gym tonight.   The dreary weather is getting to me, football practice tomorrow is going to be rainy, muddy, cold and gross again, and I haven't really taken a day off from actual physical movement/exertion beyond sitting on my butt on my computer chair/couch since the 6th.  Last Friday I missed my routine double-class at the gym for L's step-brother-in-law's birthday celebration dinner, and it would have been SO easy to "miss" again this week.

And as I tried to convince myself to get my butt in gear, change out of my pjs, and get my fat butt to the gym, I realized that my downhill slides back into unhealthy began Just. Like. This.

Terrible eating, not tracking what I eat, and CHOOSING to listen to the lazy part of my brain that just wanted to stay home and watch tv and do nothing healthy.  And that became my routine.

I don't want that to happen again.  I realized that tonight when for the first time during WillPower and Grace I was able to do 1 FULL heart-to-heart plank--ON. MY. TOES!!!!!!!!!!  And even though I am totally far from being in love with my body, I see that I am toning up in places I had forgotten about.  I am getting stronger--proof was in my performance tonight.  I am also getting more flexible--during yoga I was able to hold poses longer than in the past, and I am more able to focus on what I CAN do rather than what I am unable to do (yet!).  I need to remember this moment, hence the post-workout (UNFLATTERING) picture.  I am proud of myself, and I need to stop sabotaging my efforts in what I eat and how I choose to refuel my body.  Next week begins a re-focus on tracking and a real effort for staying on plan.
I won't totally go overboard this weekend--it will just be easier for tracking purposes to start on my weigh-in day.

I feel good.  :) YAY!

WI Wednesday!

219.1

-2.1!!!

WW yelled at me when I entered my number-it said I was losing weight too fast.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  I am not starving myself (far from it), and I am working out.  I drink water like it's going out of style, I don't drink my Coke Zero on Monday or Tuesday, and I have been trying to get all my healthy checks in.  If I was starving myself, I might agree.  But I am eating and drinking more healthfully than ever before.

My daily point target has gone down--I am down to 34.

-55.9!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty excited about that!!!

09 February 2011

WI Wednesday!

DRUM ROLL:

221.2

-3.2

TOTAL: -53.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you excessive working out and football!!!!
Eating..not so much.

(note: no Coke Zero Monday or Tuesday...believe me--I am dying to have one!!)

Measurements: Exciting!

Not going to lie, but when I look back to when I first started WW and measuring myself, I am PUMPED as to the results. Plus, I have this awesome app on my iPhone that I keep track of my workouts/measurements, and seeing all the -% in red from my changes is super encouraging. Seriously. I'm pumped!!

Overall:
Arms: -3 inches
Hips: -6 inches
Chest: -4.5 inches
Waist: -7 inches
Thighs: -1 inch
Calves: -.5 inch
Neck: -2 inches
Total lost since starting:   -24 inches!!  FROM ME.  GONE! FOREVER!!!!!

And, this morning I went through my clothes and I am 99% an 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, I NEVER thought I'd be excited about that number, but from where I was, I am thrilled.  I even put on a pair of cords and, while not a perfect fit, I am damn close!  HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though I have a LONG way to go, I feel awesome about what I have done so far. And, I keep telling myself the mantra EVERYONE experiencing the weight loss journey should memorize: "It took me MANY years to gain this weight, it will take MANY years to get it off healthily."   Or, close to that.  At least to be realistic.  I also recognize that if I wanted faster results I could spend several hours daily at the gym, rather than my working out (as of late) on average an hour 4 days a week.  Now with football, I am less motivated to hit up the gym, but I think that I want to get stronger, so I will need to make more time to make that happen.  Today, I am going to attempt to go to two classes: WillPower and Grace, followed immediately by yoga.

And tomorrow, we practice with helmets AND shoulder pads, so I will definitely be getting a hella workout tomorrow.

I'm on a roll!

P.S.

My team is going to the SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!

I LOVE MY GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!!!!

13 January 2011

Wahoo!

Doctor's scale = 223.4!!!!!

I am pretty pumped about that. Even though I am an uninsured, pay-out-of-pocket for my yearly female-parts exam, I am totally excited by the positive changes I've made and the results I am experiencing.

I am pretty close to eating an entire loaf of bread though.

HOLY CRAP : 8K #1 Signed up for!!!

I am COMMITTED!!!
HOLY CRAP!!!

APRIL 17 2010!!

5 K #2 SHAMROCK RUN

Sunday, March 13th!!!

I was too chicken to sign up for the 8K. Oh well.  Goal=improve time from 1st 5K.

21 December 2010

WI Tuesday!

Not accurate--but my scale is still in the mail (and no, I don't like to rhyme).

So I got on the Wii Fit--

224.4

-1.6lbs

WAHOOOOOOO:
-50.6 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!

I never thought I'd ever see that number.  I am so proud of myself.  YAY!!!

I think to celebrate, after I go to the grocery store to get some stuff to make my crock pot chicken salsa, I am going to run outside!!!!!!!  :)

11 December 2010

I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me, before the race.
First 5K: 37:24.

My jingle bells!

Yep. Deep.  Deeper than this in some areas!

The snow...this was a cleared section.
Me, after the race.

Mom and I--MOM ROCKED IT!!!

Not going to lie, I am not happy about my time.  Even though it was the fastest I've run since starting the C25K program...my mom WALKED it in 47!!  At least I know that I can do better.  It was super snowy and the path wasn't really cleared, so we were warned that a 5K in the snow was more like a 10K--and my legs agree right now.  Ow.

08 December 2010

Counterproductive...

Today I ran for a full 40 minutes. Straight.
It helped that my favorite podcast that I listen to as I jog read an email I wrote on the show today!  Download it here--the show is 12/8 & my email is about 19:16 into the show.  I almost fell over because they actually tease that they are going to read my email at the beginning of the show and they say my full name--I almost fell over when I heard it!!

And then I got back, showered, and started boxing up stuff that I can mail back.  And it hit me that I am leaving soon.  And it sucks.  I will miss living with my sister.  I will miss knowing how close my mom and dad are. I will miss getting to see them or have breakfast or a fish fry with them.  So that sucks.  I miss L like crazy. I miss our nice house and our awesome bed and our amazing kitchen. I miss my car and driving it.  I even miss my gym. But when I get back, I know that I will miss my mom and dad and my sister.  It's never easy is it?

And then, I had 1 point left for the day (which sucks by the way--a large cafe karuba I track as 11 points--which is horrifying, but the cinnamon roll flavor is so beyond delicious, and it is so freeking cold here, it is the perfect drink to start my teaching day).  And my jog was 12 points, but then I ate an egg, 2 egg whites and a bagel thin.  And then I had two bites of my homemade toffee that I made for people at work.  And then I ate two pretzel/Hug wreaths.  And then I ate some puppy chow I made. Keep in mind, these were things I made as gifts.  I wanted to try the puppy chow because I didn't have enough peanut butter so I added a few butterscotch chips. I don't really like the flavor, but what did I do? I gorged myself.  I actually felt myself getting sick, more and more full, and yet I KEPT EATING.  And now I have a stomach ache and I feel yucky and I totally negated my awesome run tonight.  Which is frustrating.  And disheartening.

My first 5K is on Saturday.  Two of my amazing friends are walking it while I run it.  My mom is walking in it (I just found that out via facebook).  I am nervous.

And I REALLY need to get rid of all the homemade baked goodies so I am not even tempted to gorge myself.  BAH.

02 December 2010

Just Found...

These:
100 Pushups
200 Situps

And will complete the initial tests tomorrow.
Very cool.

And I made myself run again tonight. In the cold.  YAY ME!

23 November 2010

Measurements

Since my scale is back in WI, my weigh-in will wait until next week.  I did, however, do my measurements.

Here are the results:

Arms: -2 inches
Hips: -5 inches
Bust: -7 inches
Waist: -6 inches
Thighs: -2.5 inches

So, if you do the math, this equals:

-22.5 inches

from MY body.

Holy crap. That ROCKS.  YAY ME!!!

20 November 2010

Something small...

I used to drink incessant amounts of juice.  Love, love love love juice.  Mainly orange, but sometimes orange/mango or ruby red (until I read Fast Food Nation and found out that bugs were what gives it the pink color.  awesome.), sometimes even cranberry, as long as it had Vitamin C.

I've decreased my juice intake to zero since starting WW.  Before WW, cost was initially the reason, but now it is because I'd rather not drink my points. I'd rather eat an apple or mango or one chip for the points (maybe not the one chip, but you get the idea).  I've missed it.  Especially when I am sick, or think I am going to get sick.  That was my go-to food of choice.

My sister has been horrifically sick.  The people she works with at the hospital have also been sick--the number of call-in-sick has increased dramatically the last few days.  I slept a good chunk of the day today--now that could just be because I am exhausted, but I am not taking any chances.  AND then at the store tonight I saw this:

AND IT WAS EVEN ON SALE!!!  YAY!!!
I just pounded 2 cups for 2 points and I feel better already!!

Well, not really, I feel full and bloated with juice, but it is better than being full of the chocolate covered pretzels that I made today.

Ah, the little things!!

10 November 2010

PANTS!

Not going to lie. I am pretty darn excited.   I got a pair of size 18 Levi's today--and they fit like a glove.  FYI the last pair of jeans I bought were a size 22 Silver and a size 22 Levi's.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day by day by day. I can do this!!!

09 November 2010

WI Tuesday from Wisconsin...

DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!!!

228.6!!!!!!!!!

-38.4 pounds since starting WW!!

I know that running has really been helping.  I also know that even minor slip-ups are ok, as long as I don't go back to ALL.THE.TIME. unhealthyness.

I also had to decrease my point intake with the new weight--I am down to 30 points a day!!!!

YAY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

20 October 2010

WI Tuesday from Wisconsin...

237.2

-1.6

-29.8 total since starting WW

Not too shabby if I do say so myself.  Especially after the Toppers and Taco Bell debacle.

07 September 2010

WI Tuesday from Wisconsin...

249.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even after the debacle that was yesterday!!
Total = -17.2 since starting WW
YAY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND...my knee doesn't hurt from walking in terrible conditions and terrible shoes yesterday!  My new running shoes come in today, so I can start back up the C25K program tomorrow!!!!  We have our first game today too--I'm excited to see how my little 8th graders do!!
CELEBRATION DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

20 August 2010

A "treat" + consequences...

This is only 1/2 of the screens.  Seriously. Heaven.
I have been pretty serious about this significant life change since re-starting WW.  I have been sticking to plan, recording EVERYTHING I eat, and staying away from trigger foods (fattening, calorie-filled, unhealthy choices).  Last night we went to my new obsession:  Big Al's for dinner and bowling with L's stepsister and brother-in-law.  Big Al's "dining room" is my idea of the holy promised land  The food selections?  Not so much.  I was going to try a "healthy option," but the calorie count for these 3! dishes were astounding in their own right (averaging 13 points per dish), so I thought I'd "treat" myself to something I haven't eaten in over a month of hard work.

I got a cheeseburger.
I wanted the Hawaiian burger with teryiaki and cheese and pineapple, but I just got the cheeseburger...Yay me #1.

I wanted the french fries (SO MUCH), but I got a side salad--and even asked for italian dressing on the side.  The salad arrived drenched in salad dressing, but hey, I tried. YAY me #2.

The burger came on this THICK delicious multi-grain flavorful savory toast-ish that of course was drenched in butter.  Not to mention, the top 1/2 was coated with mayo.  So, I left the burger open faced, and used my fork and knife, and ate the burger on the bottom bread.  No mayo.  YAY me #3.

I ate the entire salad AND NOT ONE CROUTON.  Now, anyone who even knows me a little, knows that me and bread--any kind of bread--are best of friends. I could eat bread ALL DAY LONG.   YAY me #4.

I didn't eat the entire bottom bread, but I did eat all the burger.  (I probably ate 2/3 of the bread.) YAY me #5.

L saved room so he could order a mud pie while we bowled, and R ordered a Heath Bar shake that she shared with D.  It came with a mound of whip cream that made me salivate, but I just drank my fizzy water from my new water bottle that I brought with me to fight temptation.  YAY me #6.

So, with all these YAYs, how did my body reward me?

Well, my guts felt like they were being ripped up and stabbed with several knives for several hours...

Awesome.

I guess my insides are enjoying my healthier choices and wanted to remind me that eating greasy, fattening, delectable food is what got me into this predicament in the first place.

So for breakfast this morning I had a stuffed corn muffin (new and improved batch-2 pts), a bowl of kix (1c=1 pt.) 1/3 c milk (.5pts.), 1/2 tsp. butter on the muffin (.5pts.), and a 3 oz. pork loin that L grilled last night before he found out we were going to bowl AND eat.  (well, and a coke zero)....

YAY ME!!!
