So I took some of my grand jury paycheck and bought some.

VEGGIES |
And made this:
I sauteed:
olive oil
garlic (4 cloves)
1 bundle of asparagus (ends cut off)
1 zucchini (grated)
sliced mushrooms
almost a full bag of baby spinach
baby heirloom tomatoes (whole)
1 red pepper cut up
After they sauteed, I made the pasta, and then added a jar of alfredo sauce (I know not super healthy) to the veggies.
DELICIOUS!

The final result! |
I am craving more fat and protein--either it is because I have gotten so far off track I can't help it, OR it is because we have had practice every night this week. Last night I couldn't sleep, so at midnight I went and ate 3 honey pretzels and 2 little chunks of cheese. And then I was able to fall asleep. I need to do some more reading on what I should be eating to best fuel my body while playing football--without resorting back to bad habits--eating whatever I want whenever I want!
Sounds yummy!
ReplyDeleteI downloaded a calorie counter app for my phone that calculates how many calories/fat/protien/carbs I eat and how much I expend with activities and exercise. It really helps me see what I'm eating and how much I need to eat to stay healthy. I know the Fitness and Health magazine websites has a section where you can figure out how many calories you need to eat based on activity level, too. I can't ever remember all this stuff on my own. Too many numbers, so I'm glad for these tools.
Yes, i totally agree. i have one of these apps too for my phone. you are probably needing alot more protein given your activity level!!! keeping track helps alleviate any guilt and/or frustration, too, since you where you stand. Or are you still counting points? there is a WW app for the iPhone...
ReplyDeleteYes--I have the WW app for my phone, but it is challenging because I have been slacking off with WW. I need to get back more on track. :( Booo me. I am working on it though. Thanks A & Jules!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE heirloom tomatoes but they are always so expensive! I wonder if I could grow them myself.
ReplyDeleteDawn--these were SO AMAZINGLY GOOD!!! YUM!!!!
