I am a Wisconsin girl until I die, and I totally bleed green and yellow, but I currently live in Portland, Oregon. On March 22, 2007 I met a boy here (that in itself is a long story), and I had never been to the west coast before. Fell in love with the boy, and appreciated the city, so I moved myself and my three cats out here.

I am a high school English teacher that was displaced for political reasons, and now in the current climate I am unemployed. I lost my teaching job at the end of the 2010 school year after successfully implementing an AP course that the school never had before. I feel that I was meant to teach, but I am not one who is satisfied with sitting around waiting for things to change. I think it will be several years before any significant changes occur to prioritize education, so I might have to give up my passion and try something new. This spring ('11), I will embark on a path I NEVER thought I'd find myself on--I am taking math and science courses in preparation for a career in the medical profession (Medical Assistant/Surgical Technician).

I am a sports fanatic: baseball and football (pro) are my favorites, but I also love the world of team sports. I was a three-sport athlete in high school, and I have coached volleyball (JV & 8th graders)--which I loved almost as much as playing the sport.
Right now I am motivated to make significant changes in my lifestyle in order to get to a healthy weight. I haven't seen a healthy weight since my freshman year in college, and I hate what I have let happen to my body (and health). I would also like to be able to get on the Wii Fit without the sad noise and frowny face.
I am engaged to the boy I moved out here for, we have three cats (one of mine passed away from cancer in 2009), and we are total foodies and beverage-ies (we have two wine fridges and a beer fridge).

I joined Weight Watchers in July of 2010, and I have seen the most success when I track 100% of everything I eat, workout on a regular basis, and don't deny myself cravings. This is the longest I have stayed with the program, and I have vowed to not quit until my healthy weight goal has been attained.
